Nikkei Community Internship

The Nikkei Community Internship (NCI), currently going into its 13th year, is a statewide program that provides college students the opportunity to gain leadership skills, cultural and professional knowledge, and network with leaders in the Japanese American community. The goal of the program is to develop the next generation of community leaders by:

  • Giving young people greater exposure to opportunities and needs in the Japanese American community
  • Promoting interaction and networking between existing Nikkei organizations and institutions
  • Connecting interns with mentors in the Japanese American community who inspire and peak their interest in the work of our organizations
  • Providing a fun learning experience that creates energy and a desire to engage in the community

For eight weeks in the summer, interns are placed in various Japanese American community-based organizations in the Greater Los Angeles, San Jose, and San Francisco Bay areas, creating a statewide network of young leaders throughout California.

Community Career Track (LA Only!)

The Community Career Track was created specifically for students who want to learn about how businesses engage in community involvement and who have career interests in the private sector including law, banking and finance, marketing, and business management.
