Paid-Internship Announcement: National Marketing Internship

The JACL is accepting applications for a National Marketing Internship in the Membership Department based in the San Francisco, Japantown Headquarters to be hired as soon as possible.

Interns will experience the operations of the MOST EXPERIENCED and LARGEST Asian American civil rights organization in the country. Applicants with business related majors (marketing, economics, etc.) and majors in the field of social justice (history, sociology, etc) are encouraged to apply. Interns will not only gain a better understanding of how a national non-profit works, but will also complete the internship with real work experience in marketing strategies, fund-raising, and other skills crucial to any social justice organization.

Early Deadline: March 7, 2011

Applications accepted until: March 9, 2011.

Stipend:                                               Up to $800/month, part-time, depending on schedule.

Qualifications:

  • Must be one of: a currently enrolled college or university student, a  recent graduate, and anyone who would benefit from the work experience
  • Commitment to social justice AND/OR interested in developing marketing /fund-raising skills
  • Able to meet deadlines and follow instructions
  • Strong work ethic
  • Asks questions when unsure of a task
  • Strong letter writing skills
  • Good at working with diverse groups of people
  • Available to work at least 12-20 hours a week until at least May 15. Hours, stipend, and length of internship may be extended depending on schedule and funding.

We are looking for individuals who want to build skills and learn more about JACL’s social justice work. While knowledge of the JACL and Asian American issues is a plus, it is not needed. Interns will be hired based on qualifications and best fit. You do not need to be Japanese American or a JACL member to apply.
