2011 Collegiate DC Leadership Conference Applications now Available!

WASHINGTON, D.C., March 3, 2011 – The 3rd Annual JACL Collegiate Washington, D.C. Leadership Conference is slated for June 9-12, 2011.  Sponsored by the UPS Foundation, this intensive three-day leadership development program introduces Asian Pacific American student leaders to the national policy-making arena.  Eligibility is limited to Asian Pacific American students who are full-time freshman, sophomores and juniors attending an accredited college or university.Participants will be briefed on legislative issues affecting the Asian Pacific American community and they will examine the role Asian Pacific American civil rights organizations play in affecting public policy.  They will also have the chance to meet and work with student leaders representing colleges and universities from throughout the country and learn ways to effectively address issues and create positive social change on their own campuses and beyond.

This year’s conference will be held from Thursday, June 9 to Sunday, June 12 at the DoubleTree Hotel in Washington, D.C.  Applications and more information are available through the JACL website or by request.  Applications are due by May 6, 2011.  Please contact Bill Yoshino, Midwest Regional Director at 773.728.7170 or midwest@jacl.org with further questions.
