Takahashi Youth Ambassador Fellowship Program

Be one of the first Takahashi Fellows and take advantage of this exclusive scholarship opportunity to travel to Japan from July 19-28, 2011. 2011 Program will be limited to 12 participants.

The goals of the Takahashi Youth Ambassador Fellowship Program:

  • To develop a deeper understanding and awareness of Japan, its culture and people.
  • To develop lifelong leadership and civic skills.
  • To provide an opportunity to visit Japan and participate in meaningful exchanges with youth from Japan.
  • To develop an appreciation and understanding of involvement through volunteerism.
  • To assist youth in obtaining admission to higher education, scholarships and future recognition through their participation in the TYAFP.

Important TYAFP Dates:

  • February 12 or 18 – Informational Meeting
  • March 11 – Applications Due
  • June – July – TYAFP Workshop Dates
  • July 19 – 28 – Trip to Japan
  • Jul 25 – Aug 3** Post-program Family Trip

Eligibility: The program is open to youth between the ages of 14-17 (current 8th-11th grader students) who
display leadership qualities, have demonstrated interest in learning about their Nikkei culture and are actively involved in their community.

TYAFP participation fee is $1,000*.
*fee can be offset by pre-organized fundraising activities
